"Replaced a 2nd gen Ipod Shuffle with this"
Bought this as a replacement for my 2nd generation Ipod shuffle for general use and exercising. Pros: The integrated clip is great, (although the Ipod's was better)and I REALLY LOVE being able to drag and drop files like a USB drive, instead of using the horrible Itunes software; that's what sold me on it. It's also nice to have a screen to see what I'm doing, and the build quality seems to be solid. Cons: the menu is a bit clunky to navigate around. I alternate between listening to podcasts and listening to music, and the interface to switch from one podcast to the next lacks the simplicity or responsiveness of the Ipod. You can't skip ahead several songs by punching 'next' repeatedly like the Ipod, you have to do it one at a time at a slow pace. The battery life is not near as good as the Ipod; I assume part of that is the screen, and part of it is how the Ipod automatically hibernates when it's left in Pause for a while, where the Sansa will drain the battery if you don't turn it off. So, en sum, the design is not as nice and the battery life is shorter, but the inclusion of a screen helps, and being able to FLIP OFF ITUNES makes it all worthwhile.
"Can't use with itunes"
I did a lot of research before buying my first mp3 player. I'd always previously used my phone as a player with no trouble but I wanted something smaller for working out. All the reviews of the Clip were glowing. None mentioned that it is not compatible with what you buy off of itunes. To convert the itunes files into something this thing can recognize you first have to burn everything from itunes onto cds then rip those cds into mp3s. It's nuts, not at all user friendly, and I had no indication it would be a problem before I actually tried to listen to music. If you're already an itunes user, this is not for you.
"MP3 PLAYER"
COMMANDS ARE EASY TO USE AND SEE IN BRIGHT LIGHT. COMMANDS ARE EASY TO EXECUTE. COMMAND BUTTONS ARE EASY TO FIND AND USE. BATTERY LIFE IS VERY CLOSE TO THE 15 HOURS SUGGESTED, WHEN USED IN CD TYPE MUSIC PLAYBACK MODE. THE CLIP FEATURE IS VERY USEFUL, AS I CLIP IT ON MY SHIRT COLLAR. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS ACQUISITION. THIS UNIT IS AT LEAST $15 CHEAPER THAN A VERY SIMILAR PRODUCT AT BEST BUY. I USE THIS ITEM WHILE BIKING 3 HOURS DAILY. I AM EXCEPTIONALLY PLEASED WITH IT.
"Playlists and Manuals--not so much"
Overall, it's a nice mp3 player--it's compact and easy to use. However, you have to download the manual (?!) from their website, and there is no manual way to create a new playlist. You can through Windows Media Player (or, so the manual I had to download says--I haven't been successful yet), or maybe through the firmware that's included. (I'm not a big fan of firmware, so (full disclosure) I haven't tried this yet.) The micro sd slot has a lot of potential.
"A sweet little player"
Love this little player, but thought there was a slot in it for audio books. My mistake. For the price, you get a great deal. Also has an FM radio with preset buttons.
