Pyrus Electronics Customer Reviews

"all I can say is THANK YOU RAIN STORM!"
I brought this as a replacement for my 4 GB one that was killed by a sudden rain storm here in Charleston SC. Prior to the storm I had NEVER had an issue with my device. I was sadden by my lost and rush to buy a new one. So being a careful shopper I checked for the brand I knew worked well. I was excited to get one with TWICE the capacity as my old one and with a camera also so I was happy! I received my package EARLIER than stated and rushed up the stairs with the box so I could load it to go to work.... while it was charging on my PC I looked for the dreaded disk that comes with all MP3 and phones, couldn't find it so I looked in the book no reference to the site for download. So I started my drag and drop of music so I could go to work and TURNED on my device and was FLOORED by the operating systems updates. IT CATEGORIZED MY MUSIC for me! SO I decided to see what else was new and guess what?? No disk because you don't HAVE to encode it it PLAYS FLV.. At this point I was ready TO DANCE to work! the VIDEO is smooth and LOOKS great and guess what? If I stop looking at a film clip and listen to radio I can go back and I am ASKED if I want to start from last point! HECK my 300.00 PHONE doesn't ask me that! OH did I say I got a SWEET price also! SO AGAIN ALL I CAN SAY IS THANK YOU RAIN STORM!

"Good quality product"
This product works exactly as I expected. The box is very well designed. Opened box, here you are the touch screen mp4 player, charger, stylus, USB cable, a clear silicon case, wall adapter and a user manual. Everything I need is in the box. I turned on the player by moving the switch to one side for a few seconds. The device turned on with a Not so fasion UI. There are 9 blocks on the sceen, each links to a function.
I tired the music first. There is a samlple song on it. (a Chinese version English song, if you know what I mean :)) The music plays through the speaker nicely. It is not very loud even when I tuned it all the way up. Without earphone, it is loud enough. Sound quality is decent. The player listed the music in several different categoires. Artists, Genre, Albums, etc. I assume this works off of the ID 3 tag in music files. This makes it really easy to organize the music files. I have Vista which has built in ID tag editor. I just opened the Windows Explorer on my computer and click on a song. There it displays the information of the song at the bottom of the screen and allows me to edit the song name, album, artists and other information. I just changed all the songs that I want to put on the play list to the same Album name. The player automatically organized them into the same category. This is great way to go around the play list feature that this player is lacking.
Then, I tried video. I have a few video files from youTube. It played fine. I am still trying to figure out how to put a DVD on it. I guess i would have to rip the DVD but I don't have this kind of software which is normally not free. Once i figure out, I will add more here.
All other features are kind of nice addons. I don't really care though. Video and music are what I really want from this.
The touch screen is pretty good. It is not multi touch screen, like the ipod. But, it is good enough to navigate and it avoids the clustered buttons. Overall, I like it.

"Nice"
I really like it. It is a good player. My dad gave me for my birthday. I promise to study good for this. and I will

"JUNK! Dont waster your money!"
JUNK! not much more to say lasted about 2 weeks and then the screen froze in "loading" mode.I even opened the back (since I knew there was no chance at ever returning it) and disconnected the battery completely - same thing. obviously solid state can brake just as easy as anything else.

"Ipod Touch vs Pyrus MP3"
My son is 10 years old and was asking for an Ipod Touch. He loves the one that his old brother has and was trying to get one for him. Of course, I had to pay for that ;) But considering the capabilities; I decided for this product because:
1. Internet access. I know, it is an advantage... but not for a 10 years old boy. I do not want him connected all the day to internet... and with no supervision. Music is fine. He uses Internet but in the desktop and with time restrictions
2. Touch screen. It works fine. Only the retractable pen has no space to put into the device... it should be improved.
3. Price. No comments !
4. Pictures. Some good features, works fine.
At the end, it works fine and I recommend this MP3 if you do not need/want internet access.
