"Great for gym use"
I have been an IPOD fan for many years - and really still am. Although I have to say the IPOD Nano was a disappointment - the controls seem to have a mind of their own...even when device is locked off, it comes on when it is picked up - maybe the case flexes and allows a contact to be made or something.
The Sansa Clip on the other hand is a champ. Controls are solid and when it is off is stays off. Sound quality is excellent. For gym use I find it ideal. For those pocket-less gym shorts, the clip works well. Attention Apple Engineers: the Sansa Clip is what the IPOD Nano should have been...
My biggest difficulty was figuring out how to convert my IPOD music files to MP3, but a little internet research took care of that. I did not sign up for Rhapsody software at $19.95 a month however (what?), as suggested by Sansa.

"I prefer it over the Apple Shuffle because of all its extra features and sound quality"
This is such a small mp3 player, yet it has such a great set of features. Because of its size, it's easy to compare it to the diminutive Apple Shuffle. But Apple has reduced the functionality of the low-end Shuffle to be almost a one-trick pony. The Sansa Clip has a display which is perhaps its biggest attribute. But throw in the FM radio, voice recording, and pretty deep set of menu options and you've got a winner here. I really enjoy using this player.
I love being able to listen to Podcasts at a faster speed. It enables me to listen to a podcast in half the time. You can also slow it down as there are three playback speed options... slow, normal, fast. Awesome. I also like that I can delete songs or podcasts right from the player instead of having to sync to my computer to do so.
I have not yet experienced the broken clip that a lot of people have reported. I would be a little disappointed if it broke, but I'd still be able to use the player and would figure out something to bring it back to full usefulness.
iTunes makes managing your playlist and adding iTunes music easy, but for me that is not a big deal. I prefer to self-load a select small group of music and mostly podcasts and I can do that quite easily without using or needing iTunes.
The Sansa Clip packs a lot into an amazing small and light package. I swear this sounds better than any other mp3 player I've used. If you don't care about iTunes integration, then this deserves consideration.

"The BEST MP3 Player for fitness enthusiasts."
I bought this player for my wife so she could have her music at the gym. It replaced her old Sony player, but the proprietary software made it unbearable. It has recently become mine, so I felt compelled to write a review.
Pros:
1. It is TINY. The clip is stable, and holds on to whatever clothing you attach it to.
2. The sound quality is nothing short of AMAZING! I've had many other players, and the sound
quality has never been better.
3. Playlists. Some of the older Sansa's didn't support playlists, like my e260. I use MediaMonkey to create playlists, and they automatically sync with the Clip. Simply Awesome.
4. Progressive rewind and fast forward. I have audio books, and the progressive fast forward makes it a breeze to get to the middle of a chapter if need be,
Cons:
1. No big display. You won't be viewing images or videos with this player.
Overall:
That's about it. I believe this player was designed for fitness minded people. It's got GREAT sound, it's easy to operate, playlists, and it's so freakin' small, I often forget where I clipped it.
If you want an all in player that has an enormous screen, pics, video, and all the bells and whistles, get something else.
If you want to listen to music without worrying about album art, video or pics, GET THIS PLAYER.

"PERFECT mp3 player!!"
I have used these refurbished Sansa mp3 players for years now. I have tried pretty much every mp3/ipod player out there. For a straight music player, there is nothing better. So easy to use the player including downloading the music to the player, very durable, battery life is unmatched, size is crazy....and cheap enough that if you lose it or break it, not the end of the world. Headphones suck....but so do all factory included headphones with all players. Strongly recommend getting better pair of EAR BUDS....really does make a huge difference.

"I wouldn't have believed it."
Last week, I put my laundry in the washer in the morning, and I forget about it until the evening, when I move it over to the dryer. When I turn on the dryer, I hear some loud clanking, but figure it it just the button my jeans or something.
Next morning, I go to get my laundry out of the dryer. I discover...my Sansa Clip with my Klipsch Image S2's still attached!
Oh crap! This is going to cost a lot to replace. Not only did they go through the full cycle of the wash, submerged for half an hour in two rinse cycles, but then sat there all day with the wet clothes, and then got banged around in the dryer.
Oh, and no way to take out the battery! but it is way too late for that anyway at this point. Still, no obvious physical damage. So, I go to turn it on. It plays perfectly. No worse for wear at all. Yes, I still dunked it in a pail of rice for a couple of days, just to be sure. It is really clean now, at least!
I gotta tell you, I am very impressed. I already loved the form factor, software, and the sound quality. Top marks on the S2's as well. If you haven't, try those too.
I think I might buy another just to have as a backup, in case they stop making these in a few years...
By the way, I use mine to run/workout with. I clip it to my shirt collar, where I never notice it. I listen to some tunes, but mostly I load podcasts like 60 minutes on it. Podcasts help me to not think about running while I'm running, and music doesn't occupy my brain the way podcasts do, and I get bored and my run gets harder.
